It's all in Jazz style but of course all concepts can be used for any style
At the end of the book there is a discography of maybe 40 songs and for each song he tell which concept of his book is used ( 32 concept ) [img]wink.gif[/img]
Just goes to show how far behind drum literature is in some ways. This is all first year music theory/composition stuff. However, it would be cool to check out. I just think it is funny that there are female vocalists, right now, taking a 110 music theory learning these same things that drummers still have to search for, when in comes to literature, on their instrument.

This one does look well organized and structured. If the material is as good as the table of contents, it could be a good one.
Part of the problem is that most drummers and drum teachers are decades out of touch with available drum literature, and still use and teach out of the same books their teacher used. Nothing against "Syncopation", but c'mon!
DVD's have filled in some of the gaps and can show things a book can't, but they aren't a substitute for the skills learned from a well-organized book. Including .pdf files will probably become the norm with the better DVD packages (Lang), and in that sense give the best of both worlds.
